10k Mob Match Results
The Bristol & West Club Championships continued at pace with the club championship race for 10k being held at the Great Western Runners Towpath 10k on Friday 24th May.
This edition of the race is the ‘Mob Match’, with local running clubs and teams being invited to bring as many members as possible to compete in the team event. The first 15 runners counted for team and club with its counters in the highest finishing positions to win a trophy.
Conditions on the day were dry albeit with some muddier sections underfoot but that didn’t stop over 20 Bristol and West athletes competing which meant B&W won the Mob Match competition and the trophy to go with it.
On the individual club champions, we are pleased to announce the winners, who will shortly be receiving their medals to mark the achievement.
Women
Following a disrupted start to the year through injury, Charlotte Taylor appears to be back to fine form by running 36:54 to become the senior women's club champion over 10k. Charlotte was the first female finisher out of all the competitors and our only female runner to score in the Mob Match alongside 14 men.
In the W50 category, Latife Comlek MacFadyen ran a chip time of 51:48 to become the 10k champion in her age group. Latife finished 9th W50 overall.
Men
Fresh off his 2:34 London Marathon performance in April, Aled Anderson ran 34:32 to cross the finish line as senior male club champion. Aled was in a group of 3 at the turnaround point at halfway but made a decisive move on one of the inclines on the return and created a gap from his competitors that he never relinquished to win the race overall.
In the M40 category, Henry Sly ran a chip time of 36:46 to finish 1st M40 on the night and take the title of Bristol and West club champion. His time was only 20 seconds slower than his recent run at the Bristol 10k earlier this month.
With 3 of the 4 club championship races now complete for 2024, all eyes now turn to the remaining 5k event in the club championships, the details of which can be found on the club website, and below:
